چکیده
Flexible pavements are mostly affected by meteorological factors in addition to traffic loads, which results premature pavement failures like rutting and moisture-induced damage. This study focuses on the impacts of adding various contents nano-silica (NS), i.e., 2%, 4%, 6%, 8% (percentage weight asphalt), along with a constant value 4.5% styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS). To assess effectiveness modified unmodified mixtures, indirect tensile strength (ITS) test, resilient modulus (MR) wheel tracking test were conducted. The MR was performed at dual temperature values, 25 °C 40 °C, demonstrated different metrological conditions this region. ratio used estimate mitigation water losses hot mix asphalt (HMA) mixtures (specimens) utilizing ITS conditioned unconditioned specimens. Moreover, model developed for potential specimens using multi expression programming (MEP), sophisticated technique that employs experimental data suggests an equation input variables. indicated NS SBS-modified bitumen enhanced mechanical properties specimens, including stiffness moisture resistances. had adverse effects while modifiers direct relationship stiffness. two-way factorial method justified effect 95% precision, MEP showed R2 >0.95, revealed good between predicted data. Furthermore, SBS impact HMA

Engineering characterisation of epoxidized natural rubber-modified hot-mix asphalt
Road distress results in high maintenance costs. However, increased understandings of asphalt behaviour and properties coupled with technological developments have allowed paving technologists to examine the benefits of introducing additives and modifiers. As a result, polymers have become extremely popular as modifiers to improve the performance of the asphalt mix. This study investigates the ...
متن کاملImpact of Aggregate Gradation and Type on Hot Mix Asphalt Rutting In Egypt
Rutting of flexible pavement is considered one of the major pavement distresses noted around the world and in Egypt. Many investigators showed at about 55 to 80% of rutting occurred in the surface layer. Rutting of asphalt surface layer may be due to many causes happened during construction phase and service phase. The main objectives of this research are to evaluate the impact of aggregate gra...
متن کاملInfrared Thermography Revolutionizes Hot-Mix Asphalt Paving
Hot-mix asphalt (HMA) surfaces comprise about 90% of the highways and roads in the U.S. Highways and are typically engineered to last 15 years or more, but many have been failing early due to potholes, cracks, raveling, and other problems. This premature road failure unnecessarily wastes millions of taxpayer dollars every year. This paper describes a series of research studies that were conduct...
متن کاملIdentification Effect of Nanoclay on Engineering Properties of Asphalt Mixtures
Nanoclays are new generation of processed clays of interest in a wide range of high performance composites. In other words, nanoclay is defined as a clay that can be modified to make the clay complexes compatible with organic monomers and polymers. Here, it can be said that the polymeric nanocomposites are among the most exciting and promising classes of materials discovered recently. A number ...
متن کاملrutting performance of polypropylene modified asphalt concrete
rutting in asphalt concrete is a very common form of distress in asphalt concrete pavement which unfortunately has been incurable to date. one of the prime reasons of rutting is attributed to the behaviour of asphalt binder at elevated temperature. this study has investigated the performance of polypropylene fibres modified asphalt concrete mix against rutting. two types of asphalt concrete sam...
